This is a weird one for me. I love Catwoman. She's one of my all-time favorite characters - not my absolute #1 favorite, but she's easily the most heavily merchandised of my top 10. Because of her popularity, she gets tossed around a lot by designers trying to tweak her look for one reason or another. In my experience, Video Games and live-action films tend to be the biggest blunderers in this "revamp" arena. This design for Catwoman is definitely not appealing to me. The funny thing is that I can't exactly pinpoint why. She has all kinds of features that I like individually; the classic purple color, the utilitarian strappy outfit, the cat-eared cowl - but for some reason this combination is just off for me. I'm curious to hear other opinions in the comments below. You know, maybe if the eyes were covered with goggles it would change the figure completely for me. Might be worth a custom (or at least a photoshop). Let's check out our favorite purple feline below!
I'm still pretty frustrated with the marketing of these figures. They are on the pricey side, but not entirely unreasonable, but the fact that they all come in $30 2-Packs is really pushing it. I would gladly pick-and-chose my most wanted characters for $15 single-carded figures, but something about them being paired up has led me to pass on a handful of purchases already.
The sexy "upper-hip windows" are a little over the top for me. I want to color them in with a Sharpie.
She is decently poseable with articulation very similar (but still different from) most 3.75" Hasbro figures.
Here are some images of Catwoman from the game and promotional graphics (note that she's not exactly purple anywhere).
Time for some Comparison Pics!
Here she is with Injustice Harley Quinn which came out earlier this Summer.
Cheers!
She is ok looking. Not a huge fan of the outfit. I do love the scale though, so I am very tempted by this line. If they do a really good Poison Ivy I might be hooked!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the shoes. If my 4" GI Joe Baroness can pose fine in her hi-heels, DCC figures should be able to do the same without making them a 'wedge' type shoe. They did the same thing with the 6" Arkham Catwoman.
I like the little Harley more & more each time I see her.
This scale is pretty cool, but I think they have a lot of catching-up to do before they get up to the level of similar-scaled Hasbro figures (GIJoe and Star Wars in particular). The shoes don't both me. High heels lways seem so impractical on a superhero (unless they're weapons like DKR Catwoman!). I was scarred by the heels on my Secret Origins Unmasked Batgirl. They were formed in the worst way and the figure could never ever stand.
