The Scarlet Witch has been through some amazing transformations in the past decade. She is one of those characters with phenomenal powers that are criminally underutilized in the comics (like most of the female mutants). Wanda Maximoff can change reality on a whim. This power seems frightening and unstable honestly. But her storylines didn't focus on that until the fateful House of M storyline in 2005. Ever since then she has been awarded the proper sense of awe and caution she deserves. Her role in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron film will likely elevate her even further. She's finally living up to the Maximoff name. This figure is one of the most desperately needed re-dos in the Marvel Legends line. Her 2005 figure from the Legendary Riders line is bafflingly bad. This new figure has some definite flaws, but it is a long-awaited and major improvement. Wanda shares the "Maidens of Might" slot in this wave with Captain Marvel. Let's check out Scarlet Witch below!
This figure is beautiful, but I had a lot of QC problems with her legs. My joints at the knees and hips were extremely loose. Her left leg was also really bent in the package and required a boiling before I took these photos. She also can't stand at all on her own. I'm using a Kaiser doll stand in all these photos.
Scarlet Witch comes with two "Hex Power" energy flares. They are very comic accurate and great accessory for this figure.
Here are some images of Scarlet Witch from the comics.
Maybe I'm the only one, but from the moment I first saw this figure I thought she looked just like the character Liza from Gotham.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here she is with her slot-mate Captain Marvel.
And here's the 2005 version. Ughh.
Cheers!
I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on this figure!
ReplyDeleteThis figure and the Black Cat figures are probably my most favorite Marvel Legends figures with movie Black Widow just behind. Scarlet looked so gorgeous and yes, she definitely looks like Liza now that I think about it! I'm still hoping for a new Emma Frost figure since the last one wasn't the greatest (better than the previous one though) but I personally disliked the hair, face and the skinny. She also didn't come with a cape which was a bummer... hopefully an Emma is in production.
skinny legs*
DeleteAs much as I would love a do-over Emma , this Wanda figure makes me want a classic green Polaris more than ever. I'm excited to see the new figures this weekend!
DeleteNow that you mention Polaris, I would love a figure of her to be quiet honest.
DeletePolaris is waaay overdue! so is Captain Monica Marvel, Mantis, Jocasta, etc.
DeleteI cannot believe we don't have a Polaris yet.
ReplyDeleteWow, as soon as I got mine I thought the same thing- I want a classic green Polaris so much! Lorna & Wanda!!
ReplyDeleteWe do need Polaris.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see this version of Scarlet Witch - I was stunned to run across a Captain Marvel at retail last week - I am very disappointed that she doesn't stand on her own.
That's it, I'm totally photoshopping Wanda into a Lorna!
DeleteThis looks amazing. After Medusa, i am so happy about b-listers, but then i found out they are doing C-listers like Thundra or Hellcat. The sky is the limit!
ReplyDeleteHellcat and Ultimate Spider-Woman were two of my top wants. My other two are Polaris and Firestar. I'm going to need to cultivate some new ones. Maybe Deathbird? Namorita? Hepzibah?
DeleteMy top ones for Marvel Legends are Jocasta, Mantis, Moondragon, Polaris, Captain Marvel II, Crystal and Disco Dazzler. They have many appearances in the comics and to me they are legends. In a dream world i would add Red Guardian II and Darkstar, but that's just wishful thinking, i feel.
DeletePhoton and Mantis would rock!!
DeleteAnd maybe the Misty Knight figure could lead us to a Photon! Marvel legends isn't above reusing heads after all (Moonstone/Ms Marvel, Mystique/Madame Hydra, etc)
DeleteWe do have Polaris coming in 2017
