S.H.Figuarts - SAILOR MOON!

S.H.Figuarts: Sailor Moon -  Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon - Bandai 2013

So I've been writing this blog (and loving it) for a little over three years now. I started it not knowing if I would find an audience, and frankly not really caring if I did. I was doing it for me. I love this hobby and when I realized there was a gap in the female action figure representation online, my hobby naturally extended out of my toy cave and onto the internet. It's been a lot of fun and I hit new thresholds all the time. Last week was another first. An amazing reader of this blog sent me a package full of fantastic action figures. You are an absolute star, James!  Opening that box made me feel more appreciated than I would have expected. The first of several reviews from this gift box is the S.H.Figuarts Sailor Moon from Bandai. I have a thing for Magical Girl series. I've done reviews of Winx and W.I.T.C.H. figures in the past, and it's always bugged me that I had no representation of Sailor Moon in my collection.  That problem is definitely remedied now though!  Let's check out Sailor Moon below!

One of the reasons I didn't have any Sailor Moons in my collection is that I was overwhelmed with options.  Sailor Moon is arguably the most popular Magical Girl series of all time and it's been merchandised like crazy.  When the S.H.Figuarts line was first announced, I knew it would be perfect.  That perfection, though, would come at a price... roughly $40-$60 each.  Definitely a deal for a figure of this quality... however trying to complete all the Sailor Soldiers at that pricepoint could be crippling.  Now that I have this figure, only time will tell how far I will tumble down the rabbit hole.

My Sailor Moon comes with 4 faces, 5 sets of hands, 2 Moon Sticks (one with the Silver Crystal) and her cat Luna.  There are multiple releases of this figure with different accessory assortments.

The faces add a lot of variety.

The sheer number of cool Sailor Soldiers they've already made is very impressive.  The thematic planetary schoolgirl designs are so iconic that they were destined for some plastic love.

Time for a Comparison Pic!

Cheers!

And thanks again James!  You Rock!

  1. Yay! James here, I'm so glad you like it! I'm seriously stoked on the fact that there is a Sailor Moon tag at the bottom of your page now. I highly suggest Venus as your next purchase. She is also loaded with accessories and has a ton of display options, and her cat Artemis. Rock on!

    1. Thanks again! My second figure may come sooner than I planned because I've been hunting the Power Rangers SHFiguarts and most places I see them carry Sailor Moon too. Seeing them on the shelves is very tempting now that I own one.

  2. I really like the S.H. Figuarts Sailor Moon figures, Bandai did a nice job. I got the five main characters from the first season of the original show. I'm still debating on whether I need Tuxedo Mask... I know I don't need the other girls that were introduced later.

    1. When I first started being social on the internet way back in the mid-90s, most strangers I talked to in chatrooms had Sailor Moon-themed screennames. I was late to the property so I just thought handles like "Tuxedo*~*Mask" were just brilliantly obscure. A few years later I figured it all out haha.
