Woohoo Spider-Gwen! Marvel has created a lot of great female characters over the past few years, but Spider-Gwen has my favorite design of them all. Her comics honestly haven't thrilled me, but I do find them enjoyable. This action figure however is simply the bee's knees. Something about the prototype from SDCC had me a little scared about the execution of the hood and overall styling. But the version I found in Toys R Us this afternoon is perfect. I simply can't get over the roster of perfectly executed Spider-Ladies we've received in the past few years. Seemingly out of the blue I suddenly have a dedicated Spider-shelf. And if the rumors are true, we should be seeing figures of Ashley Barton Spider-Girl and Silk in the next Spider-Man wave. Toy Fair is going to be pretty exciting this year! Plus there's a good chance there will be figures of Lady Thor and Wolverine in the mix, too. Hasbro is killing it lately and I hope they keep the momentum going. Let's check out Spider-Gwen in detail below!
Spider-Gwen comes with an unmasked head and a "lowered hood" accessory that fits over her neck peg like a cape would.
Here is the masked head with the draped hood.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Look at this amazing gang! From Left to Right: Ultimate Spider-Woman, Anya Corazon Spider-Girl, Spider-Gwen, May Parker Spider-Girl, and Jessica Drew Spider-Woman.
Here she is with her Mini-me.
Cheers!
Yeah, the comic is boring, but great design. Im going to get two, and with the spared Gwen head, i am gonna make Karma, as i expect she will never get made.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the comic will eventually get good. Either that or one of her secondary books will be well done (I'm not reading any of them yet). Good idea about Karma. However, with the New Mutants movie on the horizon you never know what you might get. We saw a comic styled GOTG boxset based of the movie's popularity. Plus we got a Doctor Strange sdcc set just in ANTICIPATION of his movie. I can totally see a New Mutants boxset. But you're right in that Karma probably wouldn't be included.
DeleteI feel like a lot of these comics take a while to get good. Star Wars Doctor Aphra is a good example. It's a Marvel thing, I guess.
DeleteThis is awesome. Spider-Gwen is becoming one of my favorite characters.
