Marvel Legends - MOCKINGBIRD!

Marvel Legends - Captain America (Red Skull) - Agents of Shield - Hasbro 2016

Hasbro has been doing an awesome job of making first-time Marvel Legends figures of deserving characters lately. Mockingbird has been around for over 40 years but has received very little merchandising. The recent Valkyrie, Medusa, Hela, Gamora, and Hellcat figures are just a few similar characters who are highly recognizable in the Marvel Universe (and who have been around for decades), but always seemed unlikely for Marvel Legends treatment. This is actually kind of bad because now I think that anyone is possible. Maybe a classic Polaris or Firestar will be unveiled next week at Toy Fair. At this rate we're bound to see them eventually.  Of course, Mockingbird, Hellcat, and Gamora all have media tie-ins to TV shows and movies now, which is a sure-fire way to get the green light for a Legends figure. Perhaps I need to start bribing TV writers to incorporate my favorite characters into the shows. I need to start scheming. Let's check out the long-awaited Mockingbird below!

So I had to do a minor touch-up on Mockingbird's mask.  The white lines along the edge were inconsistent.
Here are three before pictures.

Mockingbird comes with her signature batons that can combine to become a single bo staff.
I think this accessory could be scaled a little smaller.  As is, it looks like she's holding sections of PVC pipe.  A little thinner and they would look more threatening.

Here is a photo of Adrianne Palicki as Mockingbird from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  Yes, the same actor cast as Wonder Woman in the ill-fated 2011 show, and Lady Jaye in G.I.Joe: Retaliation.  I officially nominate her to be the new Megan Fox.

Time for some Comparison Pics!

Here she is with my only other Mockingbird toy, the 2013 Marvel Universe figure.

Cheers!

  1. Even though I was looking forward to Sharon Carter the most, it was Mockingbird that was the big hit of this wave for me. Hasbro hit out of the park. She's her way to becoming one of my all time favorite Marvel Legends figures.

I'm looking forward to reading your take on Sharon. I have my own thoughts on the figure, but I'll save them until the your review is up.

    1. I'm really not happy with the Sharon Carter figure. I have her photographed and the photos edited, but I lose my momentum to post when I look at her. Hopefully I'll get it up Thursday.

This mockingbird is indeed pretty great. I was afraid her goggles would magnify her eyes too much, but it's not that bad at all in person. I'm really excited for her solo comic this Spring!

  2. Aw, you're not a fan of Palecki? I mean to be fair, she has better acting than Megan Fox.

    1. Oh! I realize that that could have been interpreted in multiple ways. No, I really like Palecki, and I was nominating her to *replace* Megan Fox as the go-to girl for nerdy movies. It's funny that a general dislike of Megan Fox would make you think that I was insulting Adrianne, but I would probably assume the same thing. I was just binge-watching About A Boy over the holidays and she was really likable on that show, too.

    2. Ah. Good to know you enjoy her as well. She's awesome. I apologize for the misunderstanding though.

    3. A Palecki for every figure scale!
