Fun fact: Krysten Ritter and I were born in the same small little town and went to High Schools that were about 20 minutes apart (but I'm 3 years older). I've never met her, but I'm sure we had to be in close proximity quite a bit. There was nothing really to do in the boonies, so between the mall (I was the cool guy at the popcorn stand!), football games, the county fair, and the local amusement park, I think I'll go ahead and officially name us besties. When I first heard she was cast as Jessica Jones, I'll admit I was a little nervous. I was afraid that she couldn't embody that tough grittiness that I loved in Alias. But after the first episode I was hooked (and in all honesty, that's when I googled her and discovered the hometown connection). She really does a fantastic job portraying a very difficult character. I'm assuming this figure is utilizing the same new face scanning technique that debuted with Gamora in June, because this figure looks just like my buddy Krys-krys. Let's check out Jessica Jones below!
She comes with the torso for Man-Thing.
Jessica's jacket (only the torso portion) is removable. Her lower torso, legs, and feet are identical to the recent Mary Jane figure.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here she is with the Elektra figure from this wave. I'll be reviewing her next.
And here she is next to the recent Mary Jane figure. The lower torso, legs and feet are identical (Jessica's "boots" are just floating rubber cuffs around her ankles).
Here is (most) of this wave together. I had a super hard time finding Blade (finally found him yesterday!) But I still rigged up a group photo. Just ignore the fact that Man-Thing's right leg is actually an Arya Stark Funko Pop.
And I had to include this picture. I have always loved Man-Thing. Here is the 2005 Marvel Legends figure and the 1999 Toy Biz Dark Side figure, and of course Arya Stark.
Cheers!
Huh. Both of you were born in the same town? Wow, what are the odds of that?
ReplyDeleteFigure looks great. Never thought I'd see Jessica Jones get an action figure but here we are and she looks great too. Show is fantastic really. Funny enough, I just found out David Tennant is back of Kilgrave for season 2.
I actually never finished season 1. I really need to get back to that. I'm curious to see is the Disney/Netflix split will cause the Marvel shows to move too.
DeleteI know Netflix is in talks to at least keep the Marvel stuff.
DeleteI've always loved Man-thing too! I'm really glad he was the BAF in wave with great figures!
ReplyDeleteI actually could not initially find this figure in stores so I ordered her online. When I got the figure, her face was printed off-center and looked really weird. Plus her hairpiece wasn't glued down right and kept flipping off. Thankfully I was able to return the figure for a refund, and luckily found her at Walmart shortly after with perfect paint apps. I do wish she had some interchangeable gripping hands so I can give her a lead pipe or some other kind of blunt weapon, but other than that this figure is an A+. Just be wary of ordering online!
I ended up buying two figures as well. The first one had overly-glossy eyes and it made her look like she was crying. Took me a while to find a second one.
DeleteI really like this new scanning method that Hasbro is using for the faces, but I think they need to up the quality control now.
DeleteGreat character. Great actress. Great action figure.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! Now I want Hellcat to don a costume and get a figure :)
DeleteMy dreams for season two of both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage include Patsy becoming Hellcat and Misty finally getting that bionic arm!
DeleteI had every intention of passing on the MCU figures in this wave, but Jessica Jones and Elektra were both just too good to pass up. Jessica is the sleeper figure of the year of the year for me.
ReplyDeleteThis figure definitely goes down as a favourite of the year. after seeing the Defenders 4-Pack, it makes me wanna go and grab a second figure and throw that extra Silk head on it, for a comic Jessica.
