In 2002 I moved to a new city, started my professional career, and finally became an "adult." Of course my natural reaction to that growth was to regress to all my childhood loves. I had given up on American comics in the mid-nineties (when everything got extreme and unreadable) and I was hesitant about diving back in. But I slowly developed an aggressively flirty relationship with the clerk at the comic shop and I discovered comics had gotten really good again. My new favorites were Darwyn Cooke's Catwoman, Olivier Coipel's Legion, Y: The Last Man, and Batman: Hush. And last but not least, Invincible by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker. This comic was a fresh and fun superhero comic. The art was great, the stories were engaging, and the characters were all fantastic. Atom Eve is Invincible's classmate, teammate, and love interest. She has the ability to manipulate all matter, which is an insanely limitless power (typical of female superheroes). I'm so glad she finally got a toy. Let's check out Atom Eve below!
This figure is exclusive to the Skybound Shop online store.
I remember when we first met Atom Eve I had a visceral reaction to a redhead wearing a two-tone pink costume. I hated the clashing look so much, but over time I grew to love it.
A lot of McFarlane figures in this scale have butt grommets that disrupt the sculpt a pretty drastically. They aren't the greatest thing to look at, but I've never been one to pose my figures in over-the-shoulder booty pics anyway, so it's all good.
Eve comes with two sets of extra hands.
Here she is with a Revoltech flight stand. Her neck articulation is too hindered by her hairsculpt to give her a great flying pose.
If you're familiar with Skybound Exclusives from McFarlane Toys, you know there is almost always a bloody variant. I am not a fan of gore on my action figures personally, but I know a handful of people who regularly add blood splatter to almost every toy they buy. It takes all kinds.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here is Eve with the Invincible figure from last year (also a Skybound Exclusive). I hope they continue with this line. I would love a Rex-Splode, Robot, and Dupli-Kate.
Cheers!
