I'm very excited to see the Captain Marvel movie this week. Beyond the fact that we'll be a seeing a kickass female superhero take center stage, I'm now super intrigued to see how her blue-skinned Starforce teammate, Minn-Erva, is portrayed. I actually just learned about this character this week. I have some fuzzy memories of her on a cover of Quasar when I was a kid, but mostly she's brand-new to me. She was introudced around the same time as Carol's Ms. Marvel debut, but she was a villain to the male Captain Marvel. I'm guessing that Carol's Starforce teammates will be unhappy with her defecting to become and Earth hero. And I'm really looking forward to that conflict. This Target-Exclusive Starforce Captain Marvel comes with an assortment of accessories to make a Minn-Erva. Kudos to Hasbro for this collector-friendly bonus. The leaked Endgame 2-pack with pieces to make 5 characters shows a continuation of this trend and I couldn't be more excited (C'mon New Mutants! Hellion! Original X-Men!).
I'm really happy that this Starforce version of Captain Marvel uses the same translucent plastic that her red version has. I was afraid the repaint might skimp out and just have flat paint. The translucent effects add a wonderful cinematic quality.
This Exclusive release comes with a lot of accessories. Most importantly, she comes with a variety of pieces to make the character Minn-Erva (Doctor Minerva) of Starforce: a head, extra hands (with blue fingers), a black scarf, a rifle, and a bandolier. She also comes with the same unmasked Carol Danvers head from the standard Captain Marvel release. I only wish she had palm-open flight hands with the green gloves.
Here are some images of Doctor Minerva from the comics.
I view Carol's Starforce suit as an homage to the various green-clad males Captain Marvels over the years.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here are Carol and Minn-Erva together.
And with the standard version Captain Marvel.
Cheers!
Great great great figure. Love the black and green color combination. Bought two of these so I can have a Captain Marvel and Minn-Erva side by side.
ReplyDeleteLove the options included with this figure, but was a bit disappointed that this Minn-Erva seemed to be based on earlier concept art, or maybe an earlier look for the character before reshoots took place. I tried to make a custom head (which can be seen here ) to closer resemble actress Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva.
ReplyDeleteLoved this one, bought two
