Hasbro and TakaraTomy have been really impressing me with their constantly improving female robot designs. Of course, the cartoon versions of the female Autobots feature almost organic-looking bodies with soft curves and physics-defying transformations into blocky vehicles. In toy world, this typically means the ladies are shellformers with excessive kibble. This Earthwise Arcee is a prime example of this, but I still think she is undeniably the best official Arcee released so far. I'm just waiting for a slight redeco with some slight paint mods. A pale pink face, white feet, and some variation to the flat pink plastic would make this a perfect figure. Maybe a Japanese release in the coming months will offer some of these changes. Also the retooling of this buck for the upcoming Walmart-exclusive Elita-1 and the repaint for the Paradron medic creates an exciting precedent for more characters. I have a wishlist a mile long, but only time will tell (Beta! Nautica!). Let's check out War for Cybertron Earthrise Arcee below!
Like a lot of modern female Transformers, this Earthrise Arcee utilizes a significant amount of kibble to feature a both cartoon-accurate robot body and vehicle mode. Luckily, this figure gives you the option to remove the excess kibble. While this may be a controversial execution for many diehard Transformers fans, I am a robot-mode cartoon purist, so any steps taken to more accurately portray a good robot mode makes me happy. The removeable kibble can either be a bulky second backpack, or a hoverboard. And in vehicle mode it makes up the entire rear shell of the car.
Below is Arcee with the extra kibble removed from her back. The most notable change is that without the kibble, she appears to have two distinct "wings" instead of large single backpack.
For most of the pictures below, I will show the kibble-less version on the Left and a kibbled version on the Right.
Arcee's only accessory is a small translucent blue handgun.
The tail end kibble of the car mode can also be used as a hoverboard of sorts.
It has pegs to anchor her feet.
Her car mode is very clean, sleek, and easy to transform.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here is Earthrise Arcee with the 2014 Generations Arcee.
And here she is with Moonracer and Siege Chromia.
Cheers!
