I love Batgirl. She's arguably my favorite character (but don't hold to that the next time I say the same thing about Catwoman, She-Ra, or Cheetara). And McFarlane Toys has surprised me by producing some amazing Batgirl figures. However, this particular figure is the first one in years that I'm not a fan of. Her colors are great, and I enjoy the face sculpt and general design a lot (fyi Gotham Knights is a video game that will be released later this year). But the overall proportions and posture are distractingly awkward. She looks 8-feet tall with insanely long arms. Her back and shoulders are hunched in a way that makes her look meek. And although I love the colors and they appear to be game accurate, the yellow boots and fully-yellow cape (as opposed to just lined in yellow) is illogical and looks very odd in toy form. It's a shame because the torso and head look very good, but this figure as a whole is lacking, especially when compared with the last two (amazing) McFarlane Batgirls. Let's check her out below!
Batgirl comes with a figure stand and a tactical club.
She really can't hold the club well at all.
I highlighted a few lazy paint examples in the next few photos.
The gauntlet fins are painted on one arm and not on the other.
Her belt has some sloppy yellow masking.
Her bat ears are only partially painted.
Batgirl also comes with a Collector Card.
Although not game-accurate, this figure would look a lot better if she had yellow knee-high boots like the card and packaging show rather than the "little sneakers with boot-cut pants" look she actually has.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here are the three McFarlane Batgirls so far: Rebirth, Gotham Knights, and Three Jokers.
Cheers!
This is a great looking figure at first look. I really like that outfit. I do see how they seemed to have failed in the details though. I'll still pick this one up but it is a shame when they get lazy like that. Great review.
