A Busy Year of DC Heroines from IMAGINEXT!

An Assortment of Imaginext DC Super Friends Ladies - Fisher-Price 2022

The DC Super Friends Imaginext line from Fisher-Price is still going strong eleven years after I bought my first figure (Catwoman). I don't often post about these figures when I acquire them, but trust me I am quite the completist. There are new sculpts released occasionally. But for the most part, the line subsists on clever (and sometimes not-so-clever) re-use of existing sculpts. For instance, there is a newly sculpted Man-Bat hitting stores right now, but 99% of the figures on the shelves (including all 10 in this post) are simple redecos. The big gimmick in 2022 was the use of transparent plastics (aka "Bat-Tech"). The figures utilize light wells, often with holes cut in their capes, and accessories or playsets with pinpointed light sources to illuminate your figures from behind. It's a fun upgrade that has given us a handful of color variants (which I gladly purchase). I'm personally most excited about an upcoming Stephanie Brown redeco of Batgirl, a character who is shamefully underrepresented in plastic.

This collection of figures isn't a complete update of the DC Ladies. I know I never reviewed the first Series of DC Slammers, the Batcave Catwoman, or the Rebirth Batgirl from the past few years. Someday I get to them. But this post is an effort to play catch up and organize all the variants I keep accumulating. Let's check them out below!

This is a redeco of the original Batgirl sculpt. This cowled mold is always prone to lopsided eyes.

This light-up "backpack" comes with this specific set (Batgirl and Poison Ivy), but I'll be using it to light up all the Bat-Tech figures, most of which have no light-up accessories. The light only works when the button is actively being pressed. I tried to tape it down but it's too strong. Don't mind my fingers.

POISON IVY

This figure is a redeco of the original Poison Ivy mold but with paler skin, bolder green, redder hair, and a translucent torso.

Here are the contents of the Batman Battle Multi-Pack together. Note that this set is an homage to the 1997 Batman & Robin movie.

This figure is a bit unfortunate in that the coloring of the torso makes her bat-symbol essentially disappear. This figure also had notoriously poorly painted eyes. I passed on a dozen before I found a decent one.

Slammers Series 2 Mystery Figure Set

SUPERGIRL

For those unfamiliar with Slammers, they are blind-boxed figures that are typically grouped into three themes per wave. Wave 2 has Superman boxes (with three potential figures), Batman boxes (with six potential figures) and Bane boxes (with three potential figures). There are codes stamped on the inner red cardboard portion that will let you identify the contents if you google it.

This figure is essentially the same as the blind-bag Supergirl except this one has paler hair and a pissed off expression.

This a simple redeco of the Batgirl mold with (thankfully) blank eyes. I would have hated buying a dozen of these blindly to find one with good paint.
