This Deadeye Duel Amazon-Exclusive 2-Pack is an interesting new direction for Transformers toys. There has been an explosion of female Transformers figures in recent years. In fact, these two ladies mark my 14th and 15th new release purchases of 2023 - and I know of at least 6 more on the way before the end of the year. Of course, almost all of these figures can be categorized as either classic characters or modern TV/Movie characters. But what has been largely left out of these releases has been characters from the modern IDW comics. The comics are very popular with an overwhelming number of new female characters in those pages. And with the exception of Nautica, Windblade, and Victorion, they have been largely (and shamefully) excluded from the toy world. The designs of the characters in the comics is diverse and colorful and I hope this is only the beginning of a new wave of product based off those titles. I have a lengthy wishlist. Let's check out Kaskade below!
I don't know much about Kaskade aside from the fact that she is a sniper and part of a breakout cult from the Ascenticons called The Rise. Apparently she's only appeared in a handful of comic panels, and no full-body design has ever been shown, so this figure is largely interpreted by Hasbro and Tomy. But she looks great and is an inventive re-use of the Siege Chromia sculpt (which has that Power of the Primes aesthetic I miss).
Kaskade comes with four small weapon accessories that can be assembled into a larger rifle.
She also has two grenades.
Kaskade has the Ascenticon faction symbol on her side of the packaging.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here is Kaskade with the Siege Chromia from the 2019.
They share the same body with a new head. This mold was also used for Nightbird.
Here is Kaskade with her Deadeye Duel pack-mate, Javelin.
Cheers!
Great color palette on this one.
ReplyDeleteFunny you say that because it's a very hard color combo to photograph and by the end she left me feeling so frustrated. She's like a minty seafoam and raspberry sherbet and that combination just confused my camera and either washed out every photo or made it look very yellow. It took forever to tweak these photos to make them look as true-to-life as I could get.
