DC Comics New 52 - HUNTRESS!

DC Multiverse -  Collector's Edition - Huntress (New 52) - McFarlane Toys 2024

Huntress holds a special place in my heart because my discovery of her was the first time I truly fell in love with comics. My brothers and I were big fans of Batman from the '66 live action show and the Filmation and Super Friends cartoons. My first forays into comics were just an extension of my TV watching (mostly G.I.Joe comics), but I soon found myself buying backissues of Batman Family and expanding my knowledge of the Batman universe. When I first learned of Huntress' lineage, my young mind was blown. I had watched Catwoman and Batman flirt for years. But to learn that in an alternate timeline they were married and had a vigilante daughter was the coolest thing I had ever heard. I've been a fan ever since. I much prefer the Helena Wayne version, but I'm a fan of all her incarnations. Interestingly enough, the last comic I read starring Huntress reconciled the Wayne and Bertinelli versions into one multiverse-misplaced character. Don't know if that story stuck, but I highly approved.

My favorite outfit for Helena Bertinelli is actually this New 52 from the 2011 Crossbow at the Crossroads miniseries (with amazing interior art from Marcus To). This outfit is similar to the iconic Hush costume, but more utilitarian and less "sexy." The Hush version is great, but the bare midriff and thighs was always a bit odd. Especially for a character so steeped in religion. The New 52 version kept all the cool elements from Hush but thankfully edited out the silly part. Let's check her out below!

Huntress comes with three sets of hands, three pace plates, a crossbow, a figure stand, and a collector card.

Instead of full head replacements, Huntress comes with a removable face plate that attaches to the head with a single large peg. I genuinely like all three variations.

I attempted a quick customization of Huntress' eyes. As much as I liked all three alternate heads, I thought she looked a little vacant and timid. I tried to darken around her eyes to make her hopefully look a little more formidable.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here are the two variations of the new McFarlane Huntress together.
From Left to Right: The Platinum Kenner Release and the Standard New 52 Release.

And here are an assortment of the Bat-Ladies in the McFarlane DC Multiverse so far. From Left to Right: Barbara Gordon Batgirl (2022), Cassandra Cain Batgirl (2024), Batwoman (2023), and Huntress (2024).

Cheers!
