These Yolopark model kits are a really fun line to augment all the Hasbro and Takara Transformers product. I've noticed solicitations for a while featuring classic Transformers, Rise of the Beasts, and Evangelion, but the two Elita-1 figures for Transformers One were my first purchases. They were fun to assemble and display great. The two different modes in the One line come at different scales and pricepoints. Cog-Less Mode is 5.12" and runs $21.99 and the Cogged Mode is 6.89" and runs $36.99. Surprisingly, I had multiple issues with the larger, more expensive one (details below). But none of the issues were dealbreakers, just surprising quality issues. I eagerly look forward to the next female Transformer they might make (I'm assuming Arcee) and will gladly make the purchase. This review is for the larger 7" Cogged version - after Elita is rejoined with her Cog of Transformation and gets powered-up and is able to transform. (Note this model does not transform. Only robot mode). Let's check her out below!
This kit comes with roughly 32 pieces. They are all pre-painted and not attached to sprues. Some of the main joints are already assembled (like the knees and pelvis). Unlike the Cog-less Kit, I had several issues with this one. Several pegs were malformed and had to be glued in place (luckily they weren't articulated joints). The hole in the bottom of the head was full of plastic flashing and needed to be dremelled out so the neck post would fit. And finally, the instructions had several discrepancies. Example: The shoulders came disassembled and there were no instructions on how to assemble them.
One thing that really stood out to me was the color of these figures. She is a distinct dark maroon instead of the pinkish hue I would have expected. She still looks good, and the color looks right in the group shots with the other Yolopark models, but I have a feeling that when compared to the upcoming Movie Masters, Blokees, and ThreeZero figures, she will look dull and flat.
The eyes on these figures look really great. They are just a metallic blue paint over sculpted eyes of concentric rings, but they look awesome.
Elita-1 comes with six hands (2 left and 4 right) and a gun.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here are the two Yolopark Elita-1 kits side-by-side:
The 5" Cog-Less Mode and the 7" Cogged Mode. I honestly didn't realize that the cogs increased their overall stature, perhaps because all the main characters get powered-up at once. But watching those scenes again, I realize this size change is part of the cog process.
And here are all the Transformers One Elita-1 figures so far: From Left to Right: The Hasbro Robot Battler, the Yolopark 5" Cog-Less Mode, the Yolopark 7" Cogged Mode, and the Burger King Kid's Meal figure.
Cheers!
